My Client - Bellman.

By the sound of my client, the first impression one would get is a ‘Bellhop’, where you’d expect a person to come rushing after hearing a bell to help patrons carry their luggage while checking in or out in a hotel. Growing up in a family under debts, mortgages and low class family. Richard Ernst was born on the streets of New York.

Every sunrise would bring the same day to him. He Watched his father struggle to go to work in order to hang on to his job, mother trying to feed the family with the low income, and elder brother study as well as work as a part time clerk in order to support the family. There was little Richard could as the youngest child in the family.

Burdened by the separation of his parents due to the struggle to survive under low income, Richard learnt a valuable lesson and made up his mind that he would make a mark in this world. Richard walked through many paths. He was so obsessed with achieving something in life that he was willing to cheat, lie and con anyone who’d come his way in order to get the last laugh. He became a joke for people who’d known him for his obsession and cunningness after getting into trouble a few times.

Learning the hard way from past mistakes, Richard decided to go to university and study. He soon realized he had the passion for mathematics. He loved exploring ideas and indulging with science and nature. His desire was to bring a revolution to the world and so worked tremendously hard at Princeton University. His love for numbers and efforts lead to a revolution where he invented ‘Dynamic Programming’ along with the ‘Bellman equation’ and made important contributions in other fields of mathematics. He served the world of engineering, mathematics and economics with solutions to problems with his experience of 40 years in the profession.

Richard also has a softer side to him other than playing with numbers. He has family that he loves. He loves nature. He likes natural habitat that helps him restore his passion and devotion to the world of science and nature. He loves gardens and flowers that help him cherish each day of his life and days to come. He’d like to spend his holidays near sandy beaches with clear water, a hammock with a fresh drink by the hand and a lovely sunset. This is where he gets to rejoice the success of his career and life.

Richard’s past and the struggle is what make him get going and motivated. He has a weaker side to him when it comes to poverty and struggle. He does not like watching people grow up the way he did. He dislikes the idea that poor people or low income families are not given opportunity or a chance to step up and make a difference in the society.
Now aged 62, Richard is involved with lot of charitable causes to give people in need an opportunity to make a difference in the society with his beloved wife and daughter by his side.
